The actioning of the course plans can include the use of two way radio equipment (portable and mobile), vehicles, aerial observations (weather permitting) and use of covert optical recording equipment.
ASSI utilises state of the art equipment including the new Phonak Profilo covert communication equipment and Navman GPS units are fitted to all training vehicles.
Course participants are able to clearly see the results of their efforts over the three days of the workshop duration.
During the course, participants utilise state of the art wireless communication systems and are taught the techniques of gathering information covertly using a technique called "Reverse Perspective Surveillance" which has been developed by ASSI.
Courses are tailored to suit the company or agency participating in the training however a typical outline of our four day course is as follows:
Course Timetable
Day 1 - All Day
Classroom based training session which covers:
Day 2 - All Day
Course participants will be led through a series of closely monitored practical
sessions in static, mobile and foot surveillance techniques. This training will be field
based and will include:
Day 3 - Morning
Morning Practical Exercise. Course participants will be provided with details of a
mock surveillance investigation which they will need to plan and execute as a team.
The investigation will require participants to operate in both a rural and urban
environments as a close knit team. There will be a focus on transitions from mobile
surveillance to foot surveillance.
Course participants will also be required to obtain intelligence from third parties (Informant) in a controlled environment.
Instructors will monitor the exercise from various locations and provide feedback
during an afternoon debrief.
Debriefing session. Events of the day will be discussed and a review of team work,
planning, and group achievements will be discussed.
Day 3 - Afternoon
At the conclusion of the debrief, details will be provided of the final mock surveillance investigation which is to commence early am the following morning.
Course participants will be required to plan for that investigation and conduct a night time reconnaissance to obtain planning information for the following day.
Day 4 - Morning
Final Exercise. Full morning briefing on final mock practical exercise. Course participants will be required to plan and execute a surveillance investigation based on information received from a third party.
Course participants will be required to utilise all the resources they have available to achieve a final objective. The scenario will include extensive use of role players and will be conducted in various urban and rural locations.
Course participants will be under discreet observations from instructors and will be taken through challenging situations where quick thinking and adapting to changing environments will be required in order to achieve the objective.
The scenario will include a night operation and will continue on into Day 6.
Day 4 - Afternoon
Continuation of final exercise. Conclusion of exercise will be mid morning with the
afternoon period set aside for a debrief.
Location
Training will commence in a location within the CBD of the state where the course is being conducted. Rural work will be conducted within a 100 km radius of the CBD.
Briefings and de briefing when not conducted in the field will be conducted in a CBD location.
Accommodation for course participants located interstate should ideally be arranged within 20 kms of the CBD.
